Jail-Breaking iPhone 4s
Nearly a year after Apple introduced the A5 processor, 10 months after the release of the iPad 2 and 3 months after the release of the iPhone 4S, the impressively talented hacking team at Chronic Dev have cracked the long awaited untethered jailbreak for iPhone 4S and the iPad 2.
For all those who do not belong to the ‘tech geeks’ category, “Untethered jailbreak” allows your device to run code and applications not legalized by Apple, which means you can do many more things with your device than what it actually offers . “Untethered” means that the device stays jailbroken even after it is reset.

The team has also released the Windows version of the jailbreaking tool dubbed as “Greenpos0n Absinthe.” Just like Mac, the windows version is simple to use and provides you with an untethered jailbreak for your iPhone 4S and iPad 2 running versions of iOS 5 or 5.0.1.

However creating a jailbreak was no easy task for the Chronic Dev Team. "Ten months ago, I myself was live tweeting from a tediously long line at the nearest Apple retail store, where I anxiously waited to become one of the world's first owners (& hackers) of newly-released iPad 2. At that point, I didn’t know if any iOS hacker anticipated how much the A5 chip would completely change the game & up the stakes,” wrote Joshua Hill, the Team member.

Hill tweeted that it received over 10 million crash reports in the week after releasing the tool last month, encouraging the team to exploit the possibilities of discovering a tool for both A4 and A5 devices
